Jesus Creek lyrics

There stands a tree house atop of cross hill
An old woman lives there against her will
Mother says she's holy, I think she's just ill or afraid

Tiny log cabin down by Jesus Creek
New baby boy, it's a house without sleep, oh
Judas it's quite, you don't hear a peep from that place

Drug store sells bibles and lighters alike
Sin and salvation sold at discount price
Teller's been broken since he lost his wife in her sleep

Good people walking down to the shore
Hoping to wash up and find something more
Preacher, he preaches as if it's a chore to give aid

On Sunday they gather for the sake of their lives
Old woman, a baby, a man with no bride
Preacher says they have the devil inside and need help

But when nighttime falls, they have nothing to grieve
A sermon not even a pastor believes
Baby, so peaceful, falls back asleep by the creek

A woman who prays all night and all day
Poor, lonely man trying to keep the faith, oh
Two parents who kneel every night when they pray. Are they lost?

Let him without sin first cast a stone
Like Moses to pharaoh, let my people go
God loves his children more than you could ever know

writing it

In terms of the album, this is the first song I wrote. I wrote it in just a few minutes. We are responsible for our actions and our actions alone. But we can't do it alone. We need love from others.

recording it

This is the only song on the album that was recorded in an actual studio. A friend of mine pulled me into the studio at Utah Valley University. He walked me through the process, we took a few takes, and it was done in about an hour. It was a great experience.
