lyrics
I could be a singer Living on the road Meeting pretty women Playing rock and roll Or I could be a sailor Say goodbye to shore Horizon every morning A girl in every port I could be a writer Be featured in the times Or I could be a heistman Infamous for my crimes I could climb a mountain Dive the ocean deep Or I could rock you gently As you drift away to sleep Yes, I could be famous That'd sure be a chore I could belong to everybody, but I want to be yours I could make the A-list Make money for my tunes I'm sure that could make us happy For a year or two Yes, I could be somebody But soon I'd be old news I could give a bit to everybody Or give it all to you Yes, I could be famous That'd sure be a chore I could belong to everybody, but I want to be yours Yes, I could be famous That'd sure be a chore I could belong to everybody, but I want to be yours We could be together And I couldn't ask for more Everyone belongs to somebody, and I want to be yours
notes
Everyone belongs to somebody — I want to be yours. This album came about by accident. I had been playing guitar and writing songs for years. As the songs slowly got better and better, I decided to record a couple of them. Fast forward a year, and a friend of mine reached out to me about recording something in an actual studio. Fast forward another year, and I had 4-5 songs recorded. I reached out to that same friend, recorded a few more songs, and sent them off to him for some proper mixing. The result is this album — I Want to Be Yours and Other Songs. While a few of the tracks developed over years of playing and changes, most of them were written in less than ten minutes. I would have a riff in my hand and a thought would pop into my head. A few minutes later, I would have the words to a new song. A few of the songs (including the title track) were written during my first few months of fatherhood. Other songs are about stories I heard as a kid, the struggle to write and perform music, and thoughts that have been on my mind for a long time. I had such a great time putting this album together. I hope you enjoy it.
